Start your own business online
Article by Professor Probert
So you?re considering starting your own business? I always have a feeling that it is better to be your own boss. What about you? Internet is the centre for most businesses and people. You can find the traffic of the world on the internet. Success belongs to those who can manage to divert such global traffic to their business. So let?s see how we may achieve this. An essential lift for this success would be: 1-get a domain and find a hosting. If you can afford your own server then you can host your website yourself. But I take you are just starting business and can?t afford a server and so you would need hosting. Your domain is your proper internet address and hosting is needed for space for your website and to handle the traffic which an ordinary PC can?t handle. You pay for the size of your hosting space and so you would need to estimate the space you would need for your website.
2-you would need a web design to build your site. There are some free web builders around so do look around. Some hosts may offer web designs as well. To publish your website you would need FTP which web building programmes offer. Often the key to succeeding online by far is the need to create some real traffic. It is a common sense that unless people are aware of your business then you have no clients. So in 3-you would need to register your URL to search engines and also to adverts. Registering URL is mostly free but to register for adverts as in key words in search engines requires some spending but it is worth the investment because you are building traffic. So on starting your own business online you would need to make your own website although you may want to get a blog. A serious business would also need its own domain. There are flexible deals to suit your budget and so you don?t need a lot of money to start with. In fact you can start your own business with less than ?100 and go for a few years of hosting and domain.
Here are some respectable companies offering domains and hosting: godaddy.com; 123-reg.co.uk; pickaweb.co.uk. Before you choose a deal from any of these do feel free to browse all of them because it is always good to shop around; I don?t want you to miss on good deals. Obviously in choosing to start business online you are then faced with some technical works to do. So unless you have some IT skills then you can take your time in learning on your way. Most people may be put off by the technical requirements of such business but worry not because most hosts offer free tutorials on many things. And also web building software too is a great way for learning. So if you don?t have sufficient IT skills do take your time in digesting instructions provided on everything you do. And before you know it you would be cruising on the whole management. Time is precious but then business is time. Your time put in business is your investment.
